Carl Schurz Park has two fenced-in runs, the only areas in the Park where unleashed dogs can exercise and play. These highly acclaimed runs are the result of efforts by local City officials, NYC Department of Parks and Recreation, and Carl Schurz Park Conservancy. This site is dedicated to keeping all two and four-legged users informed and engaged. Carl Schurz Park Conservancy maintains the Dog Runs. We provide funding for weekly sanitization during summer, and bi-monthly throughout the rest of the year. We rely on donations to keep the dog runs clean and in working order. Funds go towards replacing substrate and repairing walls, fences, benches, gates and drainage. We also buy new materials and tools for basic repair and upkeep. The runs are open during normal park hours. Please note: they are closed to the general public each Wednesday and Thursday between 12:15 pm and 1:15 pm for use by the ASPCA.
