Join us as we celebrate this Latin American tradition at the Morris-Jumel Mansion.

The origins of Dia de los Muertos/Day of the Dead can be traced back thousands of years to the Aztecs. Today, the holiday continues to be celebrated not only in Mexico, but also in neighborhoods like Washington Heights, where many families from Central and South America have brought their traditions to New York City.

Families can make paper sugar skulls and other crafts and help to create a Day of The Dead altar, or ofrenda, by leaving notes or gifts for their ancestors or loved ones.

Participants are invited to bring a copy of a photograph of someone they wish to honor with their ofrenda.
